Pride in Our Valley

A documentary film revisiting the location of the original ‘Pride’ film

A few years back, I was lucky enough to meet Welsh documentary photographer Roger Tiley, who has spent much of his career documenting the Welsh coal industry and communities around South Wales. His latest work ‘Pride in our Valley’ returns to the Welsh community where the hit film Pride was made, in the Upper Dulais Valley. This area is still engaged in the coal industry with a large open cast mine and washery operational, but scheduled to close in the next 18 months.

I helped Roger for a couple of days last summer, visiting Onlywn and its Pony Club, run for local children. It was a great experience and I feel honoured to have been a small part of the project. I was able to capture a few stills, some including Roger filming.
